1,836 Google profile actions in six months — and 1,389 of them were people asking for directions

The Pelican Hotel's Google Business Profile recorded 1,836 customer interactions between April and September 2026. Three quarters were direction requests, which for a hotel is the action that most closely tracks someone actually turning up.

The four visible action totals sum exactly to the reported interaction total, which is a good sign the figure is complete rather than sampled.

How to read these numbers

What this evidence does not prove. We publish this because a number without its limits is a claim, not proof.

  • 1,836 interactions is not 1,836 people. One person checking directions three times counts three times.
  • Call taps are not answered calls, and direction requests are not verified arrivals. Google records the tap, not the outcome.
  • No comparison window or profile start date was supplied, so we cannot claim a percentage improvement — only what the six months recorded.
  • September is partial: the screenshots were captured on 25 September, before month end.
  • The 3.5 rating from 209 reviews is a point-in-time snapshot, not a six-month review gain.
  • Bookings, stays and room revenue were not supplied and are not claimed.

The starting point

The Pelican Hotel is a Ghaziabad hotel competing for people who are already nearby and already deciding — someone searching “hotel near me” from a car, or a family comparing three options on a phone. For that customer the Google Business Profile is the website. They will look at photos, glance at the rating, and tap Directions.

Why direction requests are the number that matters here

For a hotel, a direction request is the closest thing Google gives you to intent. A website click can be idle curiosity. A direction tap means someone has opened navigation to your front door.

1,389 of the 1,836 recorded actions were direction requests — 76% of everything that happened on the profile. Call taps came second at 360. Website clicks were a distant 77, and chat barely registered at 10.

That distribution is worth reading carefully, because it says something the hotel can act on: almost nobody is going to the website from Google. The profile is doing essentially all of the work. Investment belongs in the photos, the rating and the profile completeness — not in a website redesign.

What we did

Nothing exotic. The profile was completed properly — category, hours, amenities, a real photo set rather than two exterior shots — and then maintained: regular photos, and replies to reviews.

The rating sits at 3.5 from 209 reviews. That is the honest constraint on this profile, and it is the single biggest lever left. At 3.5 a hotel is filtered out by anyone using Google’s “4.0+” toggle. Moving that number is a service problem as much as a marketing one, and we have said so to the client.

What this does not prove

We were given six months of profile screenshots and nothing before them. So there is no percentage growth here, and we are not claiming any. There is no booking log, no revenue figure, and no way to tell how many of those 1,389 direction requests became guests. What the evidence supports is precisely this: in six months, the profile recorded 1,836 actions, and three quarters of them were people asking for the way there.

Month by month

What we did, and when

  1. Profile

    Complete the listing

Category, hours, amenities, room photos and the website link filled in — the fields Google uses to decide whether to show a hotel at all.

  2. Ongoing

    Photos and posts

Regular room and property photography, because hotel searchers judge on images before they judge on rating.

  3. Ongoing

    Reviews

Review requests after checkout and replies to every review, positive or not.
